Her blue dress was thought to be a nod to the nation, with one guest noting that the gown was “Fijian Blue.” Meghan accessorized with diamonds to go with her evening look.

Duchess Meghan, 37, wore a blue, floor-length cape dress by label SAFiYAA at a black-tie reception on her first night in Fiji with Prince Harry, 34. The gown was by German-born London-based designer Daniela Karmuts.

The banquet was attended by diplomats, local business leaders, and the big names of Fijian society. After the event, everyone attended a state dinner at the Grand Pacific Hotel where the Royal couple is staying during their visit.

The Queen stayed there five times while Prince Charles has been there three times. Prince Andrew has only stayed once in 1998 whereas Princess Ann used it as a guest in 2006.

The hotel's website described the venue as:

"Once established as the standard of luxury that was fit for royalty; now more than 100 years later, the Grand Pacific Hotel remains true to the ideals of delivering the best of old world charms, South Pacific hospitality and contemporary service."

The formal event marked the end of the couple's first day on the South Pacific Island. They were officially welcomed with a traditional ceremony and a short private meeting with the President.

On their arrival, Meghan wore a custom-made dress by Australian brand Zimmermann. She also wore the pearl and diamond earrings gifted to her by the Queen.

On her wrist, she wore the tennis bracelet that her father-in-law Prince Charles gave her ahead of the Royal wedding. The traditional ceremony the couple attended was held under cloudy skies in Suva’s Albert Park.

There, the Royal couple was presented with a roast pig, a whale’s tooth and traditional local brew, kava. Harry and Meghan sat on a stage as he was given the whale’s tooth, a sign of wealth, in the vakasobu, before he drank kava, a drink made from a mashed plant root in the yaqona vakaturaga.
