Republicans have managed to keep control of the U.S. Senate, which represents great news for President Donald Trump and his supporters.

On Tuesday, November 6, Republicans pulled through and strengthened their grip on the Senate, and that will prove valuable considering the Democratic win at the U.S. House of Representatives.

As reported by BBC, by controlling the Senate, Republicans may be able to stop Democrats from launching unwanted investigations into Trump's affairs.

Keeping Republicans at the Senate will provide the President with the power to appoint more conservative federal judges, as well as agency officials, to shield his agenda.

KEEPING DEMOCRATS AT BAY

This way, Democrats won't have the chance to investigate Trump's administration and he will keep their forces in check, which perfectly suits his interests.

With the Senate under Republican power, Robert Mueller's investigation of a possible Russian intervention during the 2016 Presidential elections and alleged obstruction of justice remains under control.

HAVING THE UPPER HAND

It has been reported that Republicans are truly benefiting from a lopsided election-year map, considering that Democrats are at a disadvantage, having to defend nearly three times the seats as the GOP.

But, although Republicans have the Senate, Democrats took control of the U.S. House of Representatives and this can prove to be a problem for the Trump administration.

DEMOCRATIC POWER

They gained more than the 23 seats required to take over the lower chamber of Congress and will now have the power to shoot down Trump's legislative plans, including the famous wall that he promised to build between the U.S. and Mexico.

According to specialists, although the situation is not entirely ideal for the President, it may end up benefiting him because he could choose between accusing the Democrats of obstruction or try to make deals in order to get legislation through.
