Favorite 'General Hospital' star returns after health problems

Following her leg injury, General Hospital star Leslie Charleson took to social media to announce the official date of her comeback on the longtime-running show.

On Twitter, Charleson tweeted that she will be returning to the show in July, specifically on the 23rd. The star had to leave the show for a while to recover from her leg injury.

Playing as Monica Quartermaine on General Hospital, Charleson had to be temporarily replaced by Patty McCormack.

Since 1977, Charleson has been the actor playing the role of Dr. Quartermaine who is the hospital’s Chief of Staff. At present, she is the longest-serving member of the cast of the series.

The 73-year-old star had an accident in April where she fell and injured her leg.

At the time, the official Facebook page of the General Hospital shared the news to the fans.

‘Leslie’s beloved dog, Riley Rose, was a little too eager for her morning walk and tripped Leslie, injuring her leg. Unfortunately, she will need to be replaced in shows already written. We wish her a speedy recovery and all the best,’ the post read.

Charleson took to Twitter to thank her fans for all the messages of support she received after the accident. She said she was overwhelmed by the wishes and comments from her beloved supporters.

She continued in her tweet, ‘I’ll do my best to heal quickly because there’s nothing more I’d like to do than to get back on my horse and back in the Quartermaine living room! My love and thanks to you all!’

In May, she gave her followers a quick update and once again thanked her fans for the good wishes.

She wrote, ‘Thank you all so much for your continued well wishes. I'm happy to say I'm on the mend and will be back in the saddle again soon!’
