Richard Harrison honored by 'Pawn Stars' family and fans at funeral

The iconic Richard 'Old Man' Harrison was laid to rest over the weekend. He passed last month after the losing the battle against Parkinson's disease.

Harrison was 77 years old and was one of the most popular members of the Pawn Stars reality show in downtown Las Vegas, where he was known for being cranky and prone to outbursts.

A resident who attended the viewing, Jack Leclair, told reporters that Harrison 'seemed like a really nice guy' and added that he reminded him of his own father. 

Most of the townsfolk knew him from Pawn Stars, and Laura Herlovich said allowing a celebrity to come into your home through their tv shows, their fans need closure as well. 

According to Pop Culture, Harrison was born and raised in North Carolina where he led a troublesome life and was once arrested for grand theft auto. 

He was given a choice: serve in the Navy or serve prison time for the theft. Harrison ended up serving in the Navy for 20 years where he rose to the rank of petty officer first class

As a tribute to his time in the military, his casket was draped with the star-spangled banner, and Harrison received the ceremonial rifle salute. 

FOX59 reported that Harrison and his wife JoAnne Rhue, whom he married when they were both still teenagers, moved to Las Vegas in the early eighties. 

JoAnne was a realtor, and Harrison helped her with the business after he was discharged. The family became household names in 2009 when the first season of Pawn Stars premiered. 

The first season featured several members of his family, including his son Rick and grandson Corey. The 16th season of the award-winning show will be filmed later this year. 

Harrison leaves behind JoAnne, his sons Rick, Joseph, and Chris, as well as ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
